Sustainability Starts with being Socially CONSCIOUS

Jerico is Canadian Made Socially Conscious Apparel. Jerico belabours the point because their decision to remain a domestic manufacturer is a deliberate choice to support the local economy, provide a safe working environment and make quality garments that stand the test of time.

MADE IN CANADA

Keeping their production in Canada has not been easy. Competition is plentiful and the pressures to outsource are manifold. But we believe in the ethics of fair labour and the quality of our product. 100% Canadian and sweatshop free, Jerico is proud to continuously offer authentic Canadian apparel.

Environmental by design

Jerico is a green company - by design. At Jerico, they don't believe stewardship of the environment must come with financial burden. It is a fallacy to assert that promoting the environment is at odds with economic prosperity. With careful  consideration and strategic oversight - environmentalism can be completely congruent with efficiency and financial gains. Jerico strives to synergize green practices and fiscal prudence. They have consolidated all aspects of our manufacturing processes within Toronto. This eliminates the unnecessary shipping of supplies across international borders, which ultimately reduces our transport costs and carbon emissions. They use state-of-the-art knitting machines to reduce energy consumption, they dye house uses only nontoxic materials and our cutting and sewing departments recycle upwards of 10% of their textile waste. Even their offices understand the correlation between environmental concern and financial savings - they reuse all the envelopes from our incoming mail and all our printing is done on old invoices. Anyone who's received an order from them will notice that their boxes don't say Jerico. That's not a mistake. They use second-hand boxes. It saves us money and it's good for the environment. It may not be the most glamorous way to do business, but they believe it's the right way.

In addition to scrupulous recycling and consolidation, they continue to expand their eco-friendly collection. Over 50% of their line is now made from bamboo. Bamboo does not require fertilizers or pesticides for cultivation and it grows rapidly and profusely without depleting the soil. Bamboo has a lower environmental impact than pesticide-laden conventional cotton and petroleum-derived nylon and polyester fabrics. Bamboo is also a superior fabric in terms of softness and functionality. Bamboo is inherently moisture wicking and anti-bacterial. This again, is an environmental choice that supports superior product and their/our business philosophy.
